One great part of working at a large science institution is that you get cool things at work. This is a 3D printer that we just got in the office, here is has printed out a shark, comb, chain(!) and a nut and bolt. My hope is that we can print out a 38mm Von Karman nosecone some day soon. These are printed on fairly strong but largely porous plastic material. Any ideas on how to reinforce/seal these up for use on a rocket? I suppose a layer of fiberglass or maybe just filling the outer layer with epoxy?
