I had a car accident in 1986. At the time I had Blue Cross insurance. Didn't pay a dime - had head and other x-rays, 11 stitches in my head and that was that. I don't dare think what that would cost today.
Having good insurance does protect people even today, but what is up with these prices? I expect to get ripped off in certain industries, high fashion for example (if I ever purchased it) or if I am buying drugs I expect a 200% markup. But these bills are insane, and in the medical industry? Is this really the time to make insane profits off the suffering of other people? Yes CT scanners cost a ton, yes doctors should be among the highest paid people in the country, but there is no way it should cost 100,000 to have a routine procedure like having a baby.
