Formula 75 finished!

With the last centering ring and slimline retainer installed, the rocket is essentially finished. I will pour some 5 minute epoxy over this ring for extra strength and cosmetic purposes, and also epoxy the rail guides. It is unfortunate that the retainer necessarily sticks out so far, but the roots of each fin get very close to the back of the rocket. This is as far forward as possible, a fact that I confirmed by tapping the retainer with a hammer while installing it.

I am particularly pleased with this kit. It took quite a while to build, and is not exactly perfect (needs some sanding and cleaning here and there) but it should be very strong and last a long time. The best part has to be the nosecone. The nosecone fits very well in the airframe and probably will not require any tape.

Looking good! Love the natural red airframe. I wonder if a UV resistant clear coat would be worthwhile?

Yes it would be a pain to do, but will certainly make the whole thing shine.

Pain? Just get the proper krylon clear, matte or gloss. Make sure it is a UV resistant variety. Spray and repeat.

I like using resin instead, it lasts longer and really looks good. I used krylon clear in the past and it was always a bit gummy and took on dirt.
