Silver Spur3 - Student Rocket

"It features an all carbon fiber motor case, ablative fin leading edges, and a titanium nose cone tip. Flying on an O5000, it flew to about 50000 ft and reached a maximum speed of about Mach 3.3."

"The USC Rocket Propulsion Lab is a group of largely undergraduate students ardently focused on pushing the state-of-the-art in rocket propulsion technology. Armed with determination and the goal of putting a scratch-built rocket into space, the students associated with this group spend their free time designing, building, and testing experimental rocketry and propulsion hardware both in the lab and at their Mojave test and launch site."

Also check out a slow-motion video of the rocket at launch. Boy this thing takes off!

It only weighed something like 11 kg and had an O5000 motor. When that thing went, it went. Pretty impressive.

Luckily I just happened to be there and I just happened to have a 600 fps high-speed camera pointed at it :)

Hey thanks! That must have been some flight, it sounded like a Super Loki Dart. Let me know if you have anything else like this that you think we should post here.
